Defining Moments of 2020 2: A problem is not a problem
During my stay on Lesbos, Greece, I lived in a house with a group of 12 people. One of the things I like in life as much as living the life itself is helping others. I don’t realise that most of the time, as most of the time (like most people) I’m busy working and living the live we think we are supposed to be living.
The moment that I want to highlight is the moment when one of my housemates had put parts of a melon in a glass bottle. For people who don’t do that so often: cut these parts small, so you can get them out easily. For the people who don’t cut these parts small enough: good luck trying to get the bigger parts out of your bottle. You’ll manage eventually..
So, the problem starts when you want these melon parts out of your bottle. Don’t try to force them out, try to find a good solution. The realisation that for me a problem is not a problem, but a chance to find a solution is one of my biggest lessons in 2020. It doesn’t mean I have all the solutions yet, it means my problems are as big as my brain capacity and emotions let it be.
